I feel hybrid cars are a bit overrated in Pakistan. People are mostly following the trend, but the extra price you pay takes years to recover through fuel savings. By the time you do, the battery might need replacement, so the cycle continues. Plus, maintenance isn’t simple since not every mechanic can handle hybrids. Honestly, petrol and diesel cars still make more sense here. What do you think?

Hybrid is good for those people who buy and sell in maximum 2 years of usage. You pay a high upfront cost in a hybrid which can't be recovered by just saving the fuel. In 5 years battery performance will reduce drastically

In the same price bracket you can either get Jaeco J5 or similar cars which are Hybrid or you can get Japanese Hybrid cars with loaded features compared to local tin dabbas.

Bought 2016 S400 h Merc in 2016 still running on the same battery , no heavy maintenance issues except for routine oil and filters change, only tyres replaced one time.

What we are witnessing is a systemic failure of our national transportation sector. More choices and competition will definitely reshape the market. Jaecoo J5 is the first of affordable hybrids which can be bought brand new. I am sure more will follow. Fuel savings is not just an economic but environmental reality as well. Lethargic industry walas will fail. Honda international just posted a year of financial loss! I would buy a cheap EV because it is still the best way to move in the city and save fuel and money. Don't think about it's resale rather it's use as a means of saving capital and offsetting inflation. And yes be more realistic about your driving requirements.

The Toyota C-HR hybrid battery typically lasts between 100,000 and 200,000+ miles , I own 2017 model and still getting 25+ milage, to me it it does make a big difference, shifted from kia shortage to CHR , big difference in fuel savings, especially in the current situation

Why to import a non hybrid car with 1500cc engine and pay 8 million duty alone? Isn't it better to import a 1500cc hybrid and pay almost half of duty??

Hybrids aren’t just about fuel savings, they offer a completely different driving experience. Cars like the Toyota Prius and Toyota Aqua are much quieter, with minimal engine noise, especially at low speeds, and provide a very smooth drive since there are no traditional gear shifts or vibrations. This makes them far more comfortable in city traffic compared to a regular petrol car. hybrids are more about comfort, silence, and refinement not only just fuel economy.
