Octane Boosters reality check! With hi-octane prices going crazy in Pakistan, a lot of people are thinking about using octane boosters with regular fuel as a cheaper option. Most boosters (almost all in Pakistan) don’t really deliver what they promise. They give very small gains but cause deposits on components and long term issues. Plus, those “RON increase” claims are mostly marketing gimmick. RON “points” vs full RON: When a booster says “+3 octane or +3 points”, it usually means +0.3 RON, not +3 RON. So your 90 RON fuel becomes around 90.3, not 93. That’s where the confusion starts. 1 octane point = 0.1 RON In Pakistan, best of the best booster will give +4-5 points means 0.4-0.5 RON increase. A bottle of octane booster may seem cheaper than adding a few litres of hi-octane, but the actual RON increase is very minimal. On top of that, it can damage your engine/sensors/plugs over time, leading to higher maintenance costs. In comparison, mixing hi-octane with regular fuel gives a real and predictable RON increase, making it a safer and more cost effective choice in the long run. Simple approach is to mix hi-octane with regular fuel in the right ratio based on your car requirement. It’s more reliable, better for the engine, and makes more financial sense. Keep it simple. No need to fall for fancy bottles.
