Salaam everyone! I own a Toyota Corolla GLi 1.6 Automatic (Dual VVT-i) end 2011 model. It has 171,000kms on the ODO. It has been running on KIXX 10w-40 replaced after every 4,000kms. It has been producing a loud “GRRRR” sound on cold start always and at times it also produces a relatively less loud “GRR” sound when it has been parked for long. I’ve looked up for the issue on the internet and apparently it is a common fault in the timing chain. I’ve done all the recommended steps which includes oil change, original oil filter replacement and even the replacement of the adjustor tensioner. Does this mean that I will have to get the complete timing chain set replaced? Also will be grateful if those who have faced this can share their experiences and how they got it fixed and how much it costed them. Thanks in advance!
