Range and efficiency

Claimed range443 km
Battery77 kWh
Efficiency5.8 kmper kWh

An electric car has no fuel average. The figure that matters is range, and the 443 km above is the manufacturer's claim on its home market's test cycle — Pakistani heat and air-conditioning use will not reproduce it. At 5.8 km per kWh, your cost per kilometre is your own electricity tariff divided by 5.8. We do not print a rupee figure because domestic tariffs in Pakistan are slabbed, and a single number would be wrong for most households.

Where these figures come from: An electric car has no km/l. MG publishes battery capacity and range; the range basis is stated with the figure. Range is 443 km on the WLTP cycle (MG).

Verified fuel figures for this variant are not available yet.

The good & the bad

The good

  • ▲375 kW and 725 Nm in the dual-motor car, 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds - the quickest car MG sells in Pakistan by a wide margin
  • ▲507 km WLTP from the rear-drive version, which is a genuine touring range for a roadster
  • ▲144 kW DC rapid charging, 10-80 per cent in 38 minutes
  • ▲Scissor doors and an automatic soft top - theatre no other car at any price offers here
  • ▲Bose eight-speaker audio, Nappa leather and Alcantara, 64-colour ambient lighting
  • ▲Vehicle-to-load, so the car can run equipment off its own battery

The bad

  • ▼NO PUBLISHED PRICE. A buyer cannot find out what it costs without going to a dealer, which makes it impossible to compare against anything
  • ▼Two seats and a soft top make it a second car, not a household's only one
  • ▼A 1,329 mm roofline and a sports car's ground clearance are a poor match for Pakistani road surfaces and speed breakers
  • ▼Rapid charging at 144 kW needs DC infrastructure that barely exists outside the largest cities
  • ▼Panel and body repairs on a low-volume convertible will not be quick or cheap
