The most fuel efficient car on sale new in Pakistan is the MG HS (2nd Gen), at about 19.4 km/l combined — roughly Rs 20.2 a kilometre at today's petrol price.
Counting imported used cars, nothing sold new here has caught the Toyota Aqua (Hybrid) at about 23.6 km/l. Imported Japanese hybrids still sit at the top of any honest Pakistani economy table.
Ranked from 50 nameplates on sale and 57 older or imported ones, on figures Pakistani owners report rather than laboratory claims. Cost per kilometre is calculated at the pump price published by OGRA on 3 October 2026, so it moves with the price.
Cars you can buy new today, ranked on combined km/l. Hybrids dominate the top of this table, and they do it by being good in traffic rather than on the motorway.

If you already know the shape of car you need, this is the economy leader in it.
No longer sold new here, but on every used forecourt — and the imported Japanese hybrids in this list are still more economical than anything on the new-car table above. If fuel cost is the whole decision, this is where the honest answer is.

An electric car has no fuel average, so it cannot be ranked against the tables above — the figure that matters is range, and what your own electricity costs. These are manufacturer claims on their home market's test cycle; Pakistani heat and air-conditioning will not reproduce them.
Of the cars on sale new, the MG HS (2nd Gen) is the most fuel efficient at about 19.4 km/l combined. Counting imported used cars as well, the Toyota Aqua (Hybrid) is higher still at about 23.6 km/l - imported Japanese hybrids remain the most economical cars on Pakistani roads, and nothing sold new here has caught them.
Yes, and the margin is largest in exactly the conditions Pakistan has most of. A hybrid recovers energy under braking and can switch the engine off when stopped, so its advantage is biggest in heavy city traffic and smallest on an open motorway. That is the opposite of a turbo petrol car, which does its best work at a steady cruise. The ranking on this page is dominated by hybrids for that reason.
Usually yes on energy alone, but the comparison is not a fuel average - an electric car has no km/l. What matters is your own electricity tariff against the pump price, and Pakistani domestic tariffs are slabbed, so the answer depends on which slab your household sits in and whether you can charge at home at all. Electric cars are listed separately on this page, ranked by range.
Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy test and most manufacturers publish no local figure, so our numbers come from owner reports. A car too new to have owners here cannot have those, so its figure is projected from the same engine measured in comparable conditions abroad, and every such row is marked. A ranking that quietly placed a projection above a measurement would be misleading.
On fuel alone, the cheapest new car to run is the most efficient one: the MG HS (2nd Gen) costs about Rs 20.2 per kilometre at today's petrol price of Rs 392.76 a litre. Running cost is not the whole picture though - parts availability, resale and service intervals often matter more over a few years than a km/l or two.
