The Changan Karvaan is a seven-seat MPV built by Master Changan Motors, and one of the few vehicles on sale here that carries seven people for under PKR 35 lacs.
It is a working van first: 6+1 seating with a second row that folds and a third that folds and topples over, rear-wheel drive, leaf springs at the back, and a 1,193cc engine that makes 96 hp. Dual air conditioning is standard on both variants, which matters for a vehicle whose job is carrying people through a Pakistani summer.
Two variants are sold, Power Plus and Power Comfort, and the gap between them is mostly safety and convenience rather than mechanical.
Both Karvaans use the same engine: the Changan EA-12, a 1,193cc DOHC four with multipoint fuel injection, meeting Euro IV, producing 96 hp at 5,000 rpm and 119 Nm at 4,800. Drive is to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual - there is no automatic. Suspension is MacPherson independent at the front and leaf-sprung dependent at the rear; brakes are discs in front and drums behind. The tank holds 40 litres. One note on Changan's own page: its marketing copy says 97 hp at 6,000 rpm while the specification table says 96 hp at 5,000. The table is what is recorded here.
