The Changan Oshan X7 is assembled and sold by Master Changan Motors, the joint venture between Master Motor Corporation and Changan Automobile. It launched on 7 March 2022 as Changan's first crossover in Pakistan and has become the brand's flagship passenger model. Master Changan announced it had passed 10,000 X7 units sold in March 2025 - a substantial figure for a Chinese SUV here and one of the better volume records in the segment.
The X7 is a large-ish crossover at 4,730 mm long, offered with five or seven seats. The line-up is three variants - Comfort 7-Seat, FutureSense 5-Seat and FutureSense 7-Seat - all using the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Its competitive set is the Chinese and Korean crossover middle ground: the Jolion and H6, the Tiggo 8, the Sportage, the Tucson and, at the seven-seat end, the Sorento. Its pitch is size and equipment for the money - seven seats, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, heated and ventilated front seats and 1,407 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
Four years in, the X7 is now the mature option in a field of debutants. That cuts both ways: there is real ownership data and a real used market, but it is also the oldest design in its price bracket and is being beaten on technology by hybrids that did not exist when it launched.
Every Oshan X7 sold in Pakistan uses the same powertrain: a 1,499 cc turbocharged petrol four, Euro 6 compliant, rated at 185 hp and 300 Nm, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with manual override. Drive modes are Eco, Comfort, Sport and Custom. The tank holds 55 litres and the car rides on 225/55 R19 tyres. There is no hybrid, diesel, all-wheel-drive or alternative engine in Pakistan - the only choices are seating configuration and equipment level. The seven-seat variants use the same engine and gearbox as the five-seat, with no compensation for the extra mass.
There is a reasonable body of Pakistani owner data after four years. Owners report roughly 8 to 14 km/l in city driving and 13 to 16 on the motorway, with the most commonly cited mixed figure around 11 to 14. That is honest for a 1.5-litre turbo pulling a large crossover through Pakistani traffic, but it is now the car's weakest point in a market where the Jolion HEV, JAECOO J5 and Corolla Cross HEV return 16-plus in the same conditions at overlapping prices. The dual-clutch also means economy degrades noticeably in heavy stop-start use, where the transmission slips more and the engine spends longer off boost.
