Haval H6 2026 pros & cons

✓ What we like

  • Equipment far exceeds anything Toyota or Honda offer in Pakistan at comparable money - 14.6-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate, 540-degree camera and powered seats
  • Six airbags plus a genuine driver-assistance suite with lane-keep assist and autonomous emergency braking as standard, where Japanese rivals in the price band often ship with two airbags
  • Sazgar has the deepest local hybrid manufacturing experience of anyone in the segment, having assembled hybrids in Pakistan since November 2022
  • Absorbing the September 2026 tax change instead of passing it on is a concrete decision that reduces near-term price risk
  • The widest powertrain choice in the segment under one nameplate - petrol, self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid with usable electric range
  • An 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the high-voltage battery and motor controller, which is long by local standards

✕ What we don't like

  • Resale value is the standing weakness. Chinese-brand SUVs in Pakistan depreciate faster than Toyota, Honda and Suzuki equivalents, and on a Rs 89 lac to Rs 1.29 crore purchase that gap is a large absolute loss
  • The 7-speed and 9-speed dual-clutch gearboxes behave poorly in stop-and-go traffic - low-speed shunting, clutch heat and hesitation from rest - and Pakistani city traffic is exactly the condition that exposes this
  • Turbo-petrol city economy is poor: about 10 km/l for the 1.5T and 9 for the 2.0T, worse than most buyers expect from a 1.5-litre badge
  • The dealer and service network is concentrated in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Owners elsewhere face long journeys for warranty and diagnostic work
  • Parts lead times for anything beyond routine service items can be long, since non-localised components come from China - body panels, electronics and hybrid components are the usual pain points
  • Hybrid and PHEV servicing depends on a very small pool of qualified technicians, and out-of-warranty battery replacement cost is effectively unknown in Pakistan
  • The PHEV variants remain at 25 percent GST because the September SRO excluded them, and the tax treatment has swung twice in one year

Haval H6 2026 overview

The Haval H6 is assembled in Pakistan by Sazgar Engineering Works Limited at its plant in Lahore, under a joint venture with Great Wall Motor of China. Sazgar - historically a rickshaw and auto-parts manufacturer - completed its Haval facility in July 2022 and launched the H6 HEV on 17 November 2022, which made it Pakistan's first locally assembled hybrid electric vehicle.

The car sold here is the third-generation H6, launched globally in 2020, and Pakistan now receives the facelifted version - a 14.6-inch touchscreen, revised LED lighting, 19-inch wheels, a 540-degree parking camera with transparent-chassis view and 50W wireless charging. In August 2025 the H6 PHEV facelift was globally unveiled in Lahore, making Pakistan the global launch market for that variant.

It sits in the compact-SUV space above the Haval Jolion and competes with the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Proton X70, Chery Tiggo 8, Jaecoo J7 and MG HS. It has no direct Toyota or Honda rival at its price in Pakistan.

The 2026 lineup is the broadest of any nameplate in the segment: 1.5T, 2.0T AWD, HEV, PHEV in front- and all-wheel drive, and the H6 GT PHEV coupe-SUV announced in September 2026.

Latest updates

Engine and performance

Three powertrains. The 1.5T is a 1,499 cc turbocharged four producing 182 hp and 275 Nm through a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The 2.0T is a 1,998 cc turbo four with 235 hp and 385 Nm through a 9-speed dual-clutch and an intelligent AWD system. The HEV combines a 1,499 cc four with an electric motor for a combined 240 hp and 530 Nm through GWM's single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission with Standard, Economy, Sport and Snow modes. The PHEV uses the same 1.5 turbo with a larger battery and motor set for a combined 360 hp, all-wheel drive and around 100 km of electric range.

Fuel economy

Economy splits sharply by powertrain. The 1.5T returns roughly 10 km/l in the city and 12 on the highway, and the 2.0T about 9 and 12 - figures consistent with a heavy turbo-petrol SUV in congested traffic with the air conditioning running. The HEV reverses the usual pattern at around 18 km/l in the city and 15 on the highway, because the hybrid system is most effective in stop-start conditions. The PHEV's quoted city figure is a charge-depleting composite and is not a meaningful comparison with the petrol cars; owners who cannot charge at home should budget closer to HEV consumption.
