The Haval Jolion is a compact crossover from Great Wall Motor, sold in Pakistan through Sazgar Engineering Works of Lahore, which holds the franchise and runs the local assembly plant. Sazgar's Haval operation began delivering in 2021, and the locally assembled Jolion HEV launched in March 2024. The car on sale is the first-generation Jolion that GWM launched globally in 2021, and it has not been replaced here.
Two powertrains are offered. The 1.5T is the conventional turbo-petrol car with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox at roughly Rs 78 lacs. The HEV pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with GWM's dedicated hybrid transmission at roughly Rs 91 lacs.
The HEV is the significant one: it was the first sub-Rs 1 crore locally assembled hybrid crossover with a full feature list, and it created the segment that Toyota, Honda and the Chinese hybrids now fight over. Its direct rivals are the Corolla Cross HEV, the HR-V e:HEV and the JAECOO J5 from below.
Sazgar is unusual among the Chinese-brand assemblers in having been an established listed Pakistani manufacturer before taking the franchise, with its own service network rather than a purely dealer-funded one. That has given the Jolion a better parts record than most of its peers, though coverage is still concentrated in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.
Two powertrains. The 1.5T uses a 1,499 cc turbocharged petrol four rated at 150 hp and 220 Nm through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic. The HEV combines a 1,499 cc naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor and GWM's dedicated hybrid transmission for a combined 190 hp and 375 Nm. Both are front-wheel drive on a 2,700 mm wheelbase. The HEV is self-charging with no plug, recovering energy through regenerative braking, and its traction battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 km. There is no all-wheel-drive, diesel or plug-in Jolion in Pakistan.
There is enough Pakistani owner data to be specific, and it does not match the advertising. A widely circulated owner review of the HEV covering 3,000 km reported about 16 km/l in city driving and 13 km/l on the highway - the reverse of the usual pattern, because the hybrid system works best in traffic - and described the gap against the claimed figure as a disappointment. Other HEV owners cluster around 14 to 17 km/l. The 1.5T is thirstier at roughly 10 to 12 km/l in heavy city use, rising to 14 to 17 on the motorway. Treat any claim of 20 km/l from the HEV as a best-case number, not a daily average.
