Hyundai Sonata 2.5 Smartstream MPi 2025 Model Fuel Average and Consumption

The Hyundai Sonata 2.5 Smartstream MPi fuel average in Pakistan is 10 km/l in the city and 13 km/l on the highway. Combined, that is about 11 km/l.

These are projected figures, not a Kia claim and not a Pakistani measurement — see where they come from below.

Fuel average by route and conditions

Cost per km is worked out at today's petrol price of Rs 392.76 per litre, as published by OGRA on 3 October 2026. Pakistan revises fuel prices daily, so this updates on its own.

Route Average Cost / km
City 10.0 kmpl Rs 39.3
Long 13.0 kmpl Rs 30.2
City with AC 9.8 kmpl Rs 40.1
Long with AC 12.6 kmpl Rs 31.1
City with heavy foot 9.0 kmpl Rs 43.6
Long with heavy foot 10.2 kmpl Rs 38.6
Long on 100 km/h 13.7 kmpl Rs 28.8
Long on 120 km/h 12.0 kmpl Rs 32.8
Long above 120 km/h 11.0 kmpl Rs 35.7

Where these figures come from: Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy test and Hyundai publishes no local consumption figure, so this is projected from owner-reported figures already held on this site for the same or a closely related engine, rather than presented as a certified number

The city and highway averages above are reported figures; the AC and speed breakdown is estimated from them, not separately measured. Real-world mileage varies with traffic, load, tyre pressure and fuel quality.

Based on 10 km/l city driving. Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy testing, so treat this as a guide, not a certified figure.

The Hyundai Sonata mileage is 8.2 to 13.7 kmpl in Pakistan, depending on driving style, AC use, and speed. Combined average is 11.0 kmpl.

Our takeCarMania research desk

The PKR 12.15 lac step from the Sonata 2.0 to the 2.5 is the best value decision in Hyundai's Pakistani range, and it has almost nothing to do with the engine. Hyundai's own price list gives the 2.0 a "Dual SRS airbag" and the 2.5 "6 Airbags". Twelve lacs for four more airbags, a head-up display and a powered rear sunshade is a straightforward yes. Do not buy the 2.0. Further up, the N Line at PKR 165.21 lacs is the only fast Hyundai sold here and the only Sonata with driver assistance of any kind - adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, a surround-view camera - but it is PKR 50 lacs beyond the 2.5 and competing with cars from another class entirely.

The good & the bad

The good

  • ▲The 2.5 triples the airbag count over the 2.0 for PKR 12.15 lacs, which is one of the clearest value steps in the Pakistani market
  • ▲A genuinely full-size sedan with a 12.3-inch digital cluster, Tetra LED headlamps and a 10-way powered driver's seat from PKR 103.30 lacs
  • ▲The N Line is the only turbocharged Hyundai car sold in Pakistan and the only one with a full driver-assistance package
  • ▲Five drive modes - Smart, Sport, ECO, Custom and Comfort - and shift-by-wire across the range
  • ▲Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, wireless charging and a rear camera on every version
  • ▲The N Line's 12-speaker Bose system with external amplifier, heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats

The bad

  • ▼The Sonata 2.0 at PKR 103.30 lacs has only two airbags, which is difficult to justify at that price
  • ▼Neither the 2.0 nor the 2.5 has any driver-assistance equipment - no blind-spot monitor, no lane keeping, no adaptive cruise control
  • ▼The N Line is PKR 49.76 lacs more than the 2.5, which puts it against a different class of car
  • ▼Hyundai names four airbag categories for the N Line without printing a count, so the exact number is not published
  • ▼A 2.5-litre naturally aspirated sedan is thirsty by current standards - expect around 10 km/l in town
  • ▼No hybrid Sonata is offered in Pakistan, where the Elantra and every Hyundai SUV above it are hybrids
  • ▼No independent crash rating exists for the cars sold here

Key points

  • Three versions: 2.0 at PKR 1,03,30,000, 2.5 at PKR 1,15,45,000 and N Line at PKR 1,65,21,000.
  • The 2.0 has a dual SRS airbag - two. The 2.5 has six. That is the main reason to step up.
  • The 2.5 also adds a head-up display and a powered rear sunshade.
  • The N Line is a 2.5 T-GDi turbo through an eight-speed wet dual-clutch - the only turbo Hyundai car in Pakistan.
  • Only the N Line has driver assistance: 20+ Level 2 features, adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring, surround view.
  • The N Line carries a 12-speaker Bose system with external amplifier and a 10-inch head-up display.
  • All three have shift-by-wire, five drive modes, a 12.3-inch cluster and Tetra LED headlamps.
  • 10-way powered driver's seat and 4-way powered passenger seat on the 2.0 and 2.5.

Safety

What is known about this car's safety in Pakistan
The airbag count is the thing to check, and Hyundai prints it.

The Sonata 2.0 has a "Dual SRS airbag" - two. The Sonata 2.5 has "6 Airbags (Dual SRS airbags, Front Seat Side, Side curtain)". That is the single largest difference between them and it costs PKR 12.15 lacs.

For the Sonata N Line, Hyundai's list names four categories - driver, passenger, front side and curtain - without printing a number. The Santa Fe's list prints the identical four categories as "6 SRS Airbags", so six is the obvious reading, but it is a reading rather than a published figure and is not asserted here.

All three have anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, a rear view camera and front and rear parking sensors.

Driver assistance is N Line only. It carries what Hyundai describes as 20-plus Level 2 features: adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning, a surround-view camera, front, side and rear parking sensors, downhill brake control and ISOFIX anchors. The 2.0 and the 2.5 have none of it.

Pakistan has no NCAP programme, so none of these carries an independent local crash rating.

FAQ

What is the price of the Hyundai Sonata in Pakistan?

The 2.0 MPi is PKR 1,03,30,000, the 2.5 Smartstream MPi is PKR 1,15,45,000 and the Sonata N Line is PKR 1,65,21,000. All ex-factory Faisalabad, excluding freight and insurance.

What is the difference between the Hyundai Sonata 2.0 and 2.5?

Airbags, mostly. Hyundai's price list gives the 2.0 a dual SRS airbag - two - and the 2.5 six. The 2.5 also adds a head-up display and a powered rear sunshade, and has a larger engine. Everything else is shared.

Which Hyundai Sonata should I buy?

The 2.5. PKR 12.15 lacs over the 2.0 buys four more airbags, a head-up display and a powered rear sunshade, which is a straightforward step up. The N Line is the better car by a distance but costs PKR 49.76 lacs more again.

How many airbags does the Hyundai Sonata have?

Two on the 2.0 and six on the 2.5, both printed on Hyundai's price list. For the N Line, Hyundai names four airbag categories - driver, passenger, front side and curtain - without printing a count.

What is the fuel average of the Hyundai Sonata?

Owners record about 10.5 km/l in the city and 13.5 on the highway from the 2.0. The 2.5 is projected at about 10.0 and 13.0, and the N Line at about 9.5 and 13.0. Only the 2.0's figures are owner-reported; the others are projections.

Is the Hyundai Sonata N Line fast?

It is the quickest Hyundai car sold in Pakistan - a 2.5-litre turbocharged T-GDi through an eight-speed wet dual-clutch, on 19-inch wheels, and the only turbocharged Hyundai car in the local range.

Does the Hyundai Sonata have adaptive cruise control?

Only the N Line. It carries 20-plus Level 2 driver-assistance features including adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic collision warning and a surround-view camera. The 2.0 and 2.5 have no driver assistance at all.

Is there a hybrid Hyundai Sonata in Pakistan?

No. Hyundai sells the Sonata only with naturally aspirated petrol engines and the turbocharged N Line. The Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade are all hybrids.

What is the warranty on a Hyundai Sonata?

4 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
