The Grande is the Corolla people aspire to and it does the job the Corolla has always done - it will be worth something in eight years, every mechanic knows it, and nothing about it will surprise you. But you are paying PKR 77.09 lacs for the chrome door handles and the lamps in the vanity mirrors, because mechanically it is the PKR 70.29 lac 1.8 CVT-i, and on safety it is every other Corolla: two airbags, no side, no curtain, no driver assistance. For PKR 15.9 lacs less than a Grande, the Corolla Cross 1.8 X has seven airbags and a great deal more equipment. The Grande's case rests almost entirely on resale value and status, and in Pakistan those are real arguments - just not safety ones.

Safety
What is known about this car's safety in Pakistan
The Grande carries the same two airbags as every other Corolla - driver and passenger only, on Toyota's own specification sheet, which lists "SRS Airbag: Dual (Driver + Passenger Side)" for the whole Altis X range including the Grande.
At PKR 77,09,000 it is the most expensive two-airbag car sold in Pakistan.
What it does have: vehicle stability control, anti-lock braking with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, an immobiliser with alarm, front and rear cameras and central locking with a speed-sensing lock.
What it does not have, at any price: front side airbags, side curtain airbags, a blind-spot monitor, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking or adaptive cruise control.
For comparison inside the same showroom, the Corolla Cross 1.8 X at PKR 79,35,000 - PKR 2.26 lacs more than a Grande - carries seven airbags including knee and side curtains, along with traction control, hill-start assist, emergency brake signal and front and rear clearance sonar.
Pakistan has no NCAP programme, so the car sold here carries no independent crash rating.
