The current Suzuki Swift is assembled by Pak Suzuki Motor Company at Bin Qasim, Karachi, and launched on 24 February 2022 in Lahore. It replaced the previous local Swift, which Pak Suzuki had built from 2010 until it was withdrawn in 2021. The local car is based on the Swift introduced globally in 2017, built on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform.
The Swift is the largest and most expensive of Pak Suzuki's three hatchbacks and the only one with a four-cylinder engine. Its localisation is the lowest of the three at a reported 35 percent of parts count, which is why its pricing is more exposed to exchange-rate movement than the Alto's or the Cultus's.
Local equipment is reasonably complete by Pakistani standards - a 9-inch touchscreen, LED projector headlamps, a reversing camera and parking sensors across the range - and unlike the Alto and Cultus the Swift gets ESP as standard.
Its pricing has been distorted by tax policy. Pakistan applies 25 percent GST to locally assembled vehicles invoiced above Rs 40 lacs excluding sales tax, and the Swift GLX CVT was one of the first cars pushed over that line, with Pak Suzuki raising its price by Rs 3.04 lacs in a single step to pass the tax on.
The Pakistani Swift uses the 1197 cc Suzuki K12M, a four-cylinder in-line DOHC 16-valve petrol engine with VVT, multi-point port injection and an 11:1 compression ratio, driving the front wheels. Output is 82 hp at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4200 rpm. This is the port-injected K12M, not the DualJet dual-injector engine used in some export markets, and there is no SHVS mild-hybrid system on the local car. Two transmissions are offered: a five-speed manual on the GL, and a CVT with a seven-step manual mode and a Sport setting on both CVT variants.
Owner data shows roughly 12 to 14 km/l in city driving and 15 to 18 on the highway. By variant, the GL manual and GL CVT average about 16 km/l combined and the GLX CVT slightly lower at about 15.5. Some third-party listings quote more optimistic ranges of 18 to 22 km/l highway for the manual; the owner-submitted data is the more conservative and more representative set. Summer air-conditioning use and stop-start traffic push the city figure toward the bottom of the range.
