| Suzuki Cultus VXL 1000 cc, Manual, Petrol VXL - now the only Cultus on sale. VXR and AGS bookings closed 1 Sep 2026. | PKR 4,359,160 |
The current Suzuki Cultus is assembled by Pak Suzuki at Bin Qasim, Karachi, and went on sale on 23 April 2017. Despite the nameplate it has no relationship to the previous Cultus that Pak Suzuki built from 2000 to 2017. It is the second-generation Suzuki Celerio, a global model introduced in 2014 and sold under the Cultus name only in Pakistan. The design is about twelve years old, and Suzuki has since replaced the Celerio globally with a car Pakistan never received.
The Cultus is a 1000 cc five-door hatchback sitting between the 660 cc Alto and the 1200 cc Swift. Its market position has always been awkward: not cheap enough to be an entry car, and not big or well-equipped enough to be a family car.
The important 2026 development is that the Cultus is being wound down rather than renewed. On 1 September 2026 Pak Suzuki issued a letter to all authorised dealerships discontinuing the VXR and the AGS and stopping new bookings for both with immediate effect. The VXL remains the only variant open for booking and sale. The company gave no reason.
This follows Pak Suzuki's launch of the locally assembled Fronx in May 2026, which gives the company a newer product in roughly the same price territory. It also leaves the Cultus with no automatic option at all - the AGS was the only self-shifting version.
The Cultus uses the 998 cc Suzuki K10B, a three-cylinder DOHC 12-valve petrol engine with VVT and multi-point injection, driving the front wheels at 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm at 3,500 rpm. Two transmissions were offered - a five-speed manual and Suzuki's AGS automated manual - but with the AGS discontinued on 1 September 2026 and only the VXL remaining, the five-speed manual is now the only gearbox available on a new Cultus. There has never been a CVT, a turbocharged version or a hybrid Cultus in Pakistan.
Owner data puts the Cultus at about 16 km/l in the city and 17 to 18 on the highway. Per-variant figures showed the manuals at around 17 km/l combined and the AGS at around 16.5 - the automated manual costs very little economy compared with a conventional automatic. Some owners report over 20 km/l on long steady motorway runs, but 14 to 16 km/l is the realistic figure for urban use with air conditioning.
