We do not have measured fuel figures for this variant yet.
Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy test and this car's maker publishes
none, so the only honest source is owners — and we have not gathered
enough of them for this version. Rather than print an estimate dressed as a
measurement, this page shows what is verified: the specifications below.
The entry J5. JAECOO quotes 5.3 L/100 km on WLTP - about 18.9 km/l - and a 950+ km range from the 51-litre tank. Read the safety note before choosing this over the Premium: NexGen's price list gives the Comfort DUAL FRONT AIRBAGS ONLY, where the Premium has six.

A well-judged hybrid at a price nothing else here quite matches, and then one decision that matters more than everything else on the specification sheet. The powertrain is the easy part to like. 18.9 km/l on WLTP is a genuinely strong number for a 4.4-metre SUV, the dedicated hybrid transmission is smoother than the CVTs this segment usually offers, 7.9 seconds to 100 km/h is quicker than anything at the money, and because it never needs plugging in none of Pakistan's charging problem applies. The 6-year vehicle and 8-year battery warranty is among the longest here. The decision is Comfort against Premium, and it is not close. NexGen's own price list gives the Comfort dual front airbags and nothing else - no side airbags, no curtains - where the Premium has six. The Comfort also goes without a reversing camera, runs halogen headlamps, and has two speakers. For Rs 10 lac the Premium buys four airbags, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise, a 540-degree camera, LED lights and a far better cabin. On a car in this class that is not a trim upgrade, it is a different safety proposition. Buy the Premium. If the budget only reaches the Comfort, the honest advice is to look at what else Rs 70 lac buys with six airbags rather than to take this one.

Key points

Prices are ex-factory, so they compare like with like.
The SHS HEV Comfort is PKR 69,99,000 and the SHS HEV Premium is PKR 79,99,000, both ex-factory and inclusive of applicable taxes. Both rose Rs 300,000 on 1 October 2026 when hybrid sales tax went to 25 per cent. NexGen adds Rs 55,000 per unit for freight and transit insurance.
It depends entirely on the variant, and this is the most important thing to know about the car. The Comfort has TWO - dual front airbags only. The Premium has SIX, adding front side and side curtain airbags. NexGen's website says "6 airbags" without saying that only one variant has them.
JAECOO quotes 5.3 L/100 km on WLTP, which is about 18.9 km/l, with 950+ km of total range. In Pakistani conditions expect nearer 16-17 km/l in the city, where a hybrid does its best work, and a little less on a long motorway run.
No. It is a full self-charging hybrid, not a plug-in. The 1.83 kWh battery is charged by the engine and by regenerative braking. If you want a JAECOO you can plug in, that is the J7 SHS.
The Premium, and not narrowly. For Rs 10 lac it adds four airbags, a 540-degree camera, adaptive cruise, blind spot detection, LED headlamps, a 13.2-inch screen, eight speakers rather than two, a panoramic roof and ventilated front seats. The Comfort's two airbags are hard to accept at this price.
221 hp. The 141 hp figure some listings carry is the 1.5 TGDI engine on its own, which makes 105 kW and 215 Nm. Combined with the electric motor the system produces 165 kW - 221 hp - and 295 Nm, and that is what determines how it drives.
Six years or 150,000 km on the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km on the battery, whichever comes first, published on NexGen's own brochure. The conditions behind those terms are not published, so get them in writing.
NexGen Auto Pvt Ltd, a Nishat Group company, at a plant near Faisalabad. OMODA & JAECOO launched here on 1 August 2025 and passed 10,000 locally assembled units in August 2026.
A J5 BEV Premium Plus was shown at PAPS in September 2026 with a claimed 461 km of NEDC range, 155 kW and a 58.9 kWh battery, to be assembled locally. NexGen has announced no price and publishes no page or brochure for it yet.
The MG ZS (2nd Gen) HEV runs from PKR 74,99,000 to PKR 78,99,000, between the two J5s. The J5 Premium is the stronger car on paper - 221 hp against the MG's output, a longer warranty and more driver assistance - but the J5 Comfort's two airbags make the MG the safer buy at the lower price.
