MG HS (2nd Gen) Super Hybrid PHEV 2026 Fuel Average, Electric Range and Running Cost

MG HS, front three-quarter

The MG HS (2nd Gen) Super Hybrid PHEV fuel average in Pakistan is 13 km/l in the city and 16.5 km/l on the highway once the battery is flat. Combined, that is about 14.5 km/l. Charged, it covers about 135 km on electricity first, and uses no petrol at all until that runs out. On its 55-litre tank that is roughly 715 km of city driving between fills.

These are projected figures, not a Kia claim and not a Pakistani measurement — see where they come from below.

What this car actually costs to run

On the battery135 km electric range, then the engine starts
Once the battery is flat 13 km/l petrol only — the figure most owners here will live with

A plug-in hybrid only beats an ordinary car on fuel if you actually plug it in. If you can charge at home overnight and your daily run is under 135 km, you may use almost no petrol at all. If you cannot, you are driving a heavy petrol car carrying a battery it never uses, and the figure in the middle is the one that will apply. Load-shedding and the lack of home charging make that the normal case in much of Pakistan, which is why this page leads with it.

Petrol consumption by route, with the battery flat

Cost per km is worked out at today's petrol price of Rs 398.30 per litre, as published by OGRA on 10 October 2026. Pakistan revises fuel prices daily, so this updates on its own.

Route Average Cost / km
City 13.0 kmpl Rs 30.6
Long 16.5 kmpl Rs 24.1
City with AC 12.4 kmpl Rs 32.1
Long with AC 16.0 kmpl Rs 24.9
City with heavy foot 11.5 kmpl Rs 34.6
Long with heavy foot 12.2 kmpl Rs 32.6
Long on 100 km/h 17.8 kmpl Rs 22.4
Long on 120 km/h 15.2 kmpl Rs 26.2
Long above 120 km/h 13.2 kmpl Rs 30.2

Where these figures come from: This is the charge-sustaining figure: what the car drinks once the battery is flat and the engine is doing the work. It is the number most Pakistani owners will live with, because reliable home charging is not the norm here. The maker's official combined

Running cost at today's petrol price
Rs 39,830 / month
50 km/day · 26 days · Petrol Rs 398.30/L (OGRA, 10 Oct 2026)
Rs 30.6/km · full tank ≈ 715 km for Rs 21,907
Based on 13 km/l city driving. Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy testing, so treat this as a guide, not a certified figure.

The MG HS (2nd Gen) mileage is 10.3 to 17.8 kmpl in Pakistan, depending on driving style, AC use, and speed. Combined average is 14.5 kmpl.

The good & the bad

The good

  • ▲Priced roughly Rs 20 to 30 lacs below the Sportage L and Tucson Hybrid while offering comparable screen size, driver-assistance content and an electrified powertrain
  • ▲The Super Hybrid's 24.7 kWh battery gives the longest claimed electric range in the local market, and local reports of 120 to 132 km suggest the claim is broadly honest
  • ▲Seven airbags on the petrol variant and a full driver-assistance suite including adaptive cruise and autonomous emergency braking is strong safety content at this price
  • ▲Genuinely new product rather than a warmed-over model - larger body, longer wheelbase and a cabin redesigned from scratch
  • ▲Three powertrains across a narrow price band gives a straightforward choice between lowest purchase price, lowest complexity and lowest running cost
  • ▲Both hybrids are locally assembled rather than imported, which matters for tax treatment, parts supply and serviceability

The bad

  • ▼MG raised the Hybrid+ price by Rs 5 lacs the day after a government tax cut that reduced Hyundai's prices. That is the most unfavourable pricing decision in the segment, and it came within five months of launch
  • ▼Pricing has been unstable across the board - an introductory petrol price that steps up Rs 2 lacs, and a hybrid that moved up Rs 5 lacs in months
  • ▼MG's Pakistani track record is the biggest risk. The June 2025 parts airlift and the unannounced March 2026 deletion of the previous-generation HS are both real events, and buyers are betting on continuity MG has not consistently delivered
  • ▼Resale value trails Toyota, Honda and Suzuki markedly, and the history of discontinuing models mid-life makes used buyers more cautious still
  • ▼Parts availability and lead times are a live concern rather than a theoretical one, given the documented 2025 supply interruption
  • ▼An all-new generation means an all-new parts catalogue with no local stock depth yet - early crash repairs are likely to involve long waits
  • ▼The 1.5 Turbo petrol uses a 7-speed dual-clutch, with the usual drawbacks in heavy stop-and-go traffic
  • ▼Published power and torque figures vary between MG's own launch materials and aggregator listings; confirm against the brochure
