A seven-seat hybrid at PKR 132.58 lacs is a genuinely useful thing and the Santa Fe is well made, but Hyundai has split it the wrong way round compared to its own Tucson. On the Tucson, both variants get the complete driver-assistance package. On the Santa Fe, the front-drive Smart has no blind-spot monitor, no blind-spot collision warning, no rear cross-traffic collision warning and no surround-view camera - all of which are Signature-only. That is a PKR 14.62 lac step and much of what it buys is safety equipment the cheaper Tucson already includes. If the Santa Fe is the car you want, the Signature is the one to buy; if the budget stops at the Smart, a Tucson Signature costs less and is better assisted, at the cost of two seats.

The Santa Fe is Hyundai's seven-seat hybrid SUV and it sits between the Tucson and the Palisade in the Pakistani range. Two variants: the Smart 1.6T Hybrid FWD at PKR 1,32,58,000 and the Signature 1.6T Hybrid AWD at PKR 1,40,00,000 - properly, PKR 1,47,20,000.
Both use a 1.6 T-GDi hybrid through a six-speed automatic with shift-by-wire, on 19-inch alloys, with Smart, ECO and Sport drive modes. Both seat seven. Both carry six SRS airbags, and Hyundai prints that number rather than leaving it to inference.
Shared equipment is generous: a 12.3-inch high-resolution TFT cluster, paddle shifters, a heated steering wheel, an 8-inch floating infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, ambient lighting, heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, a panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, LED headlamps with T-shaped daytime running lights and an 8-way powered driver's seat.
The difference that matters is driver assistance, and it is not evenly shared. The Signature adds HTRAC all-wheel drive with Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes, a head-up display, nine Harman Kardon speakers, ventilated seats, third-row air conditioning, a 10-way powered driver's seat with four-way lumbar and a powered cushion, projection headlamps - and the blind-spot monitor, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning and surround-view camera that the Smart goes without entirely.
One powertrain, two drivetrains. Both Santa Fes use a 1.6 T-GDi hybrid - a turbocharged, direct-injected 1,598 cc four with an electric motor - through a six-speed automatic with shift-by-wire. Drive modes are Smart, ECO and Sport. There is no plug and nothing to charge. The Smart drives the front wheels. The Signature uses HTRAC all-wheel drive with active on-demand four-wheel drive and adds Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes. Both run 19-inch alloys, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill-start assist, downhill brake control, electronic stability control and traction control. Lighting differs: the Smart gets Multi MFR LED headlamps, the Signature projection units. Both carry T-shaped daytime running lights and LED tail lights. This is the same 1.6 T-GDi hybrid family used in the Hyundai Tucson and the Kia Sportage L and Sorento hybrids, carrying a larger seven-seat body here.
The Santa Fe hybrid is projected here at about 12.5 km/l in the city and 15.5 on the highway for the front-drive Smart, and about 11.9 and 14.7 for the all-wheel-drive Signature. Those projections start from the 1.6 T-GDi hybrid figures already held on this site - Pakistani owners record about 13.5 km/l in town from the Hyundai Tucson and the Kia Sportage L using the same hybrid family - and reduce them for a larger seven-seat body. The all-wheel-drive penalty of roughly 5 per cent is the gap measured between the two Kia Sportage L hybrids. Neither figure is a Hyundai claim and neither is a measurement. For context, the Kia Sorento 1.6T hybrids - the Santa Fe's closest rival, also seven seats, also a 1.6 T-GDi hybrid - are recorded on this site at 12.6 and 12.0 km/l in the city for front and all-wheel drive. The two cars should be very close on fuel. Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy test and Hyundai publishes no local consumption figure for any of its cars, so every number here is either an owner report or a projection from one, and is labelled as such on the page it appears on.

Six SRS airbags on both variants - driver, passenger, front seat side and side curtain - and Hyundai prints the number on its price list rather than leaving it to be inferred, which it does not do for the Tucson or the Sonata N Line.
Both also have an electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill-start assist, downhill brake control, electronic stability control, traction control, a rear view camera and front and rear parking sensors. The Signature adds auto child lock.
Driver assistance is where the two diverge sharply, and a buyer should understand it before choosing.
The Signature has a blind-spot monitor, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning and a surround-view camera.
The Smart has none of those. Hyundai's price list for the Smart lists a rear view camera and parking sensors and nothing further.
This is worth comparing with Hyundai's own Tucson, which is a cheaper car and carries the full driver-assistance package on both of its variants. The seven-seat Santa Fe Smart, at PKR 1,32,58,000, is less assisted than a Tucson Smart at PKR 1,22,02,000.
Pakistan has no NCAP programme, so the car sold here carries no independent crash rating.
The Smart 1.6T Hybrid FWD is PKR 1,32,58,000 and the Signature 1.6T Hybrid AWD is PKR 1,47,20,000. Both are Hyundai's discounted ex-factory prices; the list figures are PKR 1,45,74,000 and PKR 1,61,23,000, with no end date published.
Seven, on both variants.
The Signature adds HTRAC all-wheel drive with Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes, a head-up display, nine Harman Kardon speakers, ventilated seats, third-row air conditioning, a 10-way powered driver's seat and projection headlamps - and, importantly, a blind-spot monitor, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning and a surround-view camera, none of which the Smart has.
Six SRS airbags on both variants - driver, passenger, front seat side and side curtain. Hyundai prints the number on its price list.
Projected at about 12.5 km/l city and 15.5 highway for the front-drive Smart, and 11.9 and 14.7 for the all-wheel-drive Signature. These are projections from the same 1.6 T-GDi hybrid in the Tucson and Kia Sportage L, adjusted for a larger seven-seat body - not Hyundai figures and not measurements.
If you need seven seats, the Santa Fe. If five will do, the Tucson Signature costs PKR 13.92 lacs less than the Santa Fe Signature and carries the full driver-assistance package, which the Santa Fe Smart does not have at all.
Both are seven-seat 1.6 T-GDi hybrids at similar money. The Sorento range is broader - a 3.5 V6, two hybrids and a plug-in hybrid - and its all-wheel-drive variants are very well equipped. The Santa Fe Smart and the Sorento FWD hybrid share the same weakness: both are stripped of driver assistance that their all-wheel-drive siblings carry.
No. It is a self-charging hybrid with no plug.
4 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
