The good & the bad
The good
- ▲181 PS and 290 Nm from the 1.5 turbo is strong for the class, and well ahead of the naturally aspirated engines in cars at similar money
- ▲An all-wheel-drive option exists at all, and it is the CHEAPER of the two versions
- ▲Equipment on the Premium is genuinely complete: panoramic sunroof, ventilated Nappa leather front seats, power tailgate with foot sensor, 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control with air purifier
- ▲Assembled locally by Al-Haj rather than imported, which matters for parts and service
- ▲A European-tuned chassis by way of Proton's Lotus-influenced engineering, which reviewers have consistently rated well for ride and body control
The bad
- ▼NEITHER AL-HAJ NOR PROTON PUBLISHES A FUEL CONSUMPTION FIGURE for this car, so there is no manufacturer number to hold them to - unusual, and worth knowing before buying a turbocharged SUV
- ▼The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is the component owners of Chinese and Malaysian crossovers most often report trouble with in Pakistani traffic conditions
- ▼Proton's dealer and service network here is far smaller than Toyota's, Honda's or Suzuki's, and smaller than Haval's or MG's
