Kia's most interesting decision here was not to cheapen the entry car. The front-drive Sportage L at PKR 121.99 lacs has the same engine, the same gearbox, the same six airbags and - unusually - the same complete driver-assistance package as the PKR 133 lac all-wheel-drive version. What the extra PKR 11.1 lacs buys is traction and comfort: terrain modes, ventilated and heated seats, memory, a heated wheel, a powered tailgate and Harman Kardon audio. None of it is safety. If you do not need all-wheel drive, the cheaper car is not the compromised one, and that is rarer in Pakistan than it should be. Set against it: there is no petrol option at all, so the hybrid premium is not optional, and the spare wheel is a steel donut rather than a full-size alloy.

The Sportage L is Kia's mid-size SUV in Pakistan and, since the all-new car arrived in August 2026, it is sold here as a hybrid only. There is no petrol Sportage L. Two variants: the front-wheel-drive HEV at PKR 1,21,99,000 and the all-wheel-drive HEV at PKR 1,32,99,000.
Both use the same powertrain - a 1,598 cc SmartStream Gamma 1.6 T-GDI making 178 hp and 265 Nm, paired with a 64 hp, 264 Nm electric motor for a combined 235 hp and 368 Nm through a six-speed automatic with a dial shift-by-wire selector. The battery is a 270-volt lithium-ion pack of 1.49 kWh. There is no plug and nothing to charge.
The car measures 4,685 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall on a 2,755 mm wheelbase, with 181 mm of ground clearance and a 586-litre boot that opens to 1,872 litres. The tank holds 52 litres.
What makes it unusual in this market is that Kia did not strip the cheaper variant's safety equipment. Both cars get lane keeping assist, lane following assist, forward collision avoidance covering cars, pedestrians, cyclists and junction turning, blind-spot collision avoidance, the blind-spot view monitor, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, safe exit warning, smart cruise control, high beam assist, driver attention warning, the surround-view monitor and parking collision avoidance. Six airbags on both. A dual 12.3-inch curved display, a panoramic sunroof and 64-colour ambient lighting are also common to the pair.
The all-wheel-drive car adds Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes, ventilated and heated front seats, a driver memory seat, a heated steering wheel, a smart power tailgate with memory and a six-speaker Harman Kardon system with a bass booster in place of the standard six-speaker setup.
One powertrain, two drivetrains. The engine is a 1,598 cc SmartStream Gamma 1.6 T-GDI, direct-injected and turbocharged, making 178 hp and 265 Nm between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The electric motor adds 64 hp and 264 Nm at 1,700 rpm. Kia quotes the combined output as 235 hp and 368 Nm. Drive goes through a six-speed automatic - a conventional torque-converter unit, not a dual-clutch - with a dial shift-by-wire selector. That choice matters in Pakistani traffic, where dual-clutch gearboxes are the most common source of complaint in this class. The battery is a 1.49 kWh, 270-volt lithium-ion pack rated at 5.5 Ah. It charges from the engine and from braking. There is no charging port and no plug. The front-wheel-drive car has Eco, Sport and My Drive modes. The all-wheel-drive car adds Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes. Suspension is McPherson strut at the front and multi-link at the rear on both, with 17-inch front and 16-inch rear discs, and 235/60R18 tyres on 18-inch alloys.
Pakistani owners of this hybrid powertrain record about 13.5 km/l in the city and 16.5 on the highway in the front-wheel-drive car, roughly 14.7 combined. The all-wheel-drive version gives up about five per cent, at 12.8 and 15.7. For context, a petrol mid-size SUV of this size in Pakistan typically returns 9 to 10 km/l in town. The hybrid's advantage is therefore in the region of 35 to 40 per cent in city driving, which is where it matters most and where the system spends most of its time running on the motor. The 52-litre tank is small for the class - the Sorento carries 67 litres - but at 14.7 km/l combined it still gives a usable range of around 760 km. Pakistan has no mandatory fuel-economy test and Kia publishes no local consumption figure for any of its cars, so every number here is either an owner report or a projection from one, and is labelled as such on the page it appears on.

The notable thing about the Sportage L's safety equipment is that Kia did not divide it by trim. Both the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive hybrids carry the same list.
Six airbags - front, side and curtain. ABS, electronic stability control, downhill brake control, hill-start assist and trailer stability assist. An electronic parking brake with auto hold, and tyre-pressure monitoring.
On driver assistance: lane keeping assist, lane following assist, forward collision avoidance assist covering cars, pedestrians, cyclists and junction turning, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, the blind-spot view monitor, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, high beam assist, driver attention warning with lead vehicle departure alert, manual speed limit assist, smart cruise control, the surround-view monitor, and parking distance warning with parking collision avoidance.
That is a complete package by the standards of this market, and it is worth saying plainly that the cheaper car does not go without any of it.
Pakistan has no NCAP programme and no crash-testing facility, so the car sold here carries no independent crash rating. Ratings awarded to Sportages built elsewhere are not applied to it.
The front-wheel-drive hybrid is PKR 1,21,99,000 and the all-wheel-drive hybrid is PKR 1,32,99,000. Both are ex-factory and exclude freight, registration and withholding tax.
Two: FWD HEV and AWD HEV. Both are hybrids. Kia does not sell a petrol Sportage L in Pakistan. Prices you may see listed around PKR 79 to 113 lacs under the Sportage name belong to the outgoing fourth-generation car, not to the all-new Sportage L.
Yes, and only a hybrid. A 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine works with a 64 hp electric motor for a combined 235 hp and 368 Nm. It is a self-charging hybrid - there is no plug and nothing to charge.
Owners of this powertrain record about 13.5 km/l in the city and 16.5 on the highway in the front-drive car, and about 12.8 and 15.7 in the all-wheel-drive version. Kia publishes no local figure, so these are owner-derived rather than certified.
Mechanically, only the drivetrain - the engine, gearbox, battery and all six airbags are identical. The AWD adds Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes, ventilated and heated front seats, a driver memory seat, a heated steering wheel, a smart power tailgate with memory and Harman Kardon audio. Critically, it adds no safety equipment: the full driver-assistance suite is on both cars.
Unless you specifically need all-wheel drive, the front-wheel-drive car. It has the same powertrain, the same airbags and the same complete driver-assistance package for PKR 11.1 lacs less. The AWD premium buys traction and comfort features, not safety.
Yes, on both variants. Kia's specification sheet lists smart cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, forward collision avoidance with pedestrian, cyclist and junction detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, the blind-spot view monitor and the surround-view monitor on the front-drive car as well as the all-wheel-drive one.
586 litres with the rear seats up, and 1,872 litres with them folded.
No. Kia's specification sheet lists a steel donut spare on both variants.
Kia Pakistan publishes 4 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first, with 8 years or 160,000 km on the high-voltage battery.
