The Toyota Yaris sold in Pakistan is a B-segment sedan assembled locally by Indus Motor Company at Port Qasim, Karachi. It launched in March 2020, replacing both the Corolla XLi and GLi that Indus dropped from the Corolla range and the imported Vitz hatchback.
Despite the name, this is not the European or Japanese Yaris hatchback. It is the third-generation XP150 sedan, the same car sold in Thailand as the Yaris Ativ and across ASEAN as the Vios. The XP150 entered production globally in 2013 and was facelifted in 2017. Toyota replaced it globally in 2022 with a fourth-generation DNGA-platform car, but Pakistan has not received it - Indus continues to build the older generation, so the Pakistani Yaris in 2026 is running a body and platform roughly thirteen years old at their root.
Indus applied a local facelift in May 2024 bringing revised bumpers, LED headlamps and DRLs, a sharkfin antenna, a 9-inch floating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control and a third airbag. That was a cosmetic and equipment refresh, not a generational change.
The Yaris is Indus Motor's volume passenger car and its main defence against Chinese entrants that undercut it heavily on equipment. It competes on the badge, dealer coverage and resale rather than on specification.
Two naturally aspirated in-line four petrol engines, both 16-valve DOHC with Dual VVT-i. The 1.3-litre (1,329 cc NR-series) produces roughly 98 hp and 123 Nm with a five-speed manual or a seven-speed CVT with sequential Shiftmatic. The 1.5-litre (1,496 cc NR-series) produces roughly 106 hp and 140 Nm and, in the current official lineup, comes only with the CVT in the two ATIV X trims. All variants are front-wheel drive with Eco and Sport drive modes. There is no turbo, no hybrid and no diesel Yaris in Pakistan.
Owner data puts the Yaris at roughly 12 to 14 km/l in the city and 15 to 16 on the highway from a 42-litre tank. By variant, the 1.3 manual averages about 14.5 km/l, the 1.3 ATIV CVT about 14.0 and the 1.5 ATIV X CVT about 13.5 - so the 1.3 is measurably the more economical choice in town. Individual reports scatter widely, from 9 to 10 km/l in heavy Karachi traffic in a 1.5 up to 17 to 19 in careful highway running in a 1.3 CVT.
